When it comes to food sold in the United States, the label 'Natural foods' and 'all-natural foods' are widely used for marketing purposes. Yet, the definition of, 'all-natural' is very vague. Most consumers believe that the label, 'All-natural' means that the product is minimally processed and does not contain manufactured ingredients. This is not always true. The lack of standards in most states means that the term assures nothing. In some places, the term “natural” is defined and enforced by consumer laws. In the United States, it has no meaning.
Fran's Fryers strives to be better than this. That's why we say our products are, 'Better than all-natural'. When the meat that you put on your family's table comes from Fran's Fryers, you can be assured that it's better than all-natural .
During their farm life, our chickens are raised in large houses on the ground with lots of room, fresh air, and fresh water to keep them healthy. In order to prevent contamination, the birds are not let outside. As a result, the death rate is only 3-5%. The average death rate for birds raised outside is 20-30%.
Our birds are fed a healthy, hybrid feed during farm life. With our customers' health in mind, our 'Better Than All Natural' label ensures that our chickens are not fed with genetically modified (GMO) feed with Round Up and that it is pesticide free.
Sanitary, Chemical-Free Slaughtering Practices
During processing, each bird is inspected by a USDA inspector. At the time of slaughter, the bird's throats are cut so they bleed to death; then they are scalded for thirty seconds in 150 degree water. Then they are plucked; They are rinsed with an organic rinse, then chilled in ice water to 38 degrees. We do not use preservatives at any time during processing. The chicken is de-boned and packaged at Fran's Fryers plant in Milford, Texas. It is becoming common practice in the meat industry to use radiation to kill ecoli. However, all of the chickens and cows that Fran's Fryers uses are radiation free! Another reason we are Better Than All Natural.
Our Black Angus beef is antibiotic and growth hormone free. They are given a vegetarian diet of corn, molasses, specific minerals based upon age and hay. All of the cattle are raised in the United States on ranches in South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Each ranch’s herd is closed. The cows are nursed until 5 or 6 months old. They are then grass fed until they are approximately 15-18 months old. After that, they are moved to a feedlot where they are given the vegetarian diet until they are almost 2 years old or 1,250 pounds. Once they have reached full weight, they are humanely processed.
Humane, sanitary processing
The cattle are slaughtered by draining their blood from their necks. Each animal is tested for Mad Cow Disease and E-Coli. At Fran's Fryers, we cut the beef into steaks, roasts, and stew pieces. Every batch of ground beef is tested for E-Coli. We have never had a positive batch. It is packed and frozen immediately for your freshness. We never process beef and chicken at the same time, so there is never a cross-contamination.
We use Amish Country brand turkeys, also known as Country Day, which are all natural with zero additives. They are raised in large buildings; cage free, in ideal conditions. The feed is pesticide free and consists of corn, soy, minerals and vitamins. No growth hormones or steroids are given to the turkeys. They are given antibiotics as chicks. However, they are tested before they are processed to ensure that the turkeys are clean and have no sign of antibiotics in their system. These standards are higher than the USDA regulations for all natural.
Fran’s Fryers is dedicated to bring you the best all natural turkeys at the best price on the market.
